Solve any 9×9 cube in your browser: enter the colors, press Solve and follow the solution move by move on a 3D model.
How to solve a 9×9 cube with this solver
- Hold your 9×9 cube the way the net shows (this page already selects the 9×9 cube).
- Enter the scrambled state: paint the stickers on the net, scan every face with your camera or upload photos, or type the scramble in standard notation.
- Press Solve. The solver runs inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Follow the solution: the 3D model turns step by step while the permutation graph shows every sticker moving. In Free play mode you can scramble and turn the puzzle yourself, with a timer.
Solver and measured move counts
gullicube by Tomas Rokicki, compiled to multithreaded WebAssembly. In our tests a random 9×9 scramble took about 448 moves in quality mode (10–15 s, about 30 MB of tables downloaded once) or about 695 moves in fast mode (2–4 s), counted in the single slice turn metric.
Notation
Standard WCA notation: U D L R F B turn a face clockwise, ' means counterclockwise and 2 a half turn; x y z rotate the whole cube. M E S turn the middle slice. On bigger cubes a number in front selects an inner layer (2R) and w turns several layers together (Rw, 3Rw).
What the permutation graph shows
Every sticker is a node. Each move permutes the stickers and splits them into cycles, drawn as circles: on a 9×9 cube the 9 layers of each of the three axes appear as 9 concentric circles. A solution is a path through the puzzle's state graph from your scramble to the solved state, and the graph animates that path move by move.
Frequently asked questions
Is the solver free, and are my photos uploaded?
It is free and runs entirely in your browser. Camera images and photos are processed on your device and never uploaded. The site counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies; Google Analytics is loaded only if you accept it in the banner, and you can change that choice in the footer.
Is the solution the shortest possible?
No. Optimal solving of a 9×9 cube is out of reach for any computer; gullicube is one of the strongest practical solvers and is about 448 moves here.
Can I scan my 9×9 cube with the camera?
Yes. Open the Camera / photo tab, show each face to the camera or upload a photo of each face, then check the result on the net and correct any sticker before solving.
