Solve any Pyraminx in your browser: enter the colors, press Solve and follow the shortest possible solution on a 3D model.

How to solve a Pyraminx with this solver

  1. Hold your Pyraminx the way the net shows (this page already selects the Pyraminx).
  2. Enter the scrambled state: paint the stickers on the net or type the scramble in notation.
  3. Press Solve. The solver runs inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.
  4. Follow the solution: the 3D model turns step by step while the permutation graph shows every sticker moving. In Free play mode you can scramble and turn the puzzle yourself, with a timer.

Solver and measured move counts

Proven optimal: a complete breadth-first table of all 933,120 positions (without tips) is built in about a quarter of a second. Every position needs at most 11 turns plus up to 4 tip turns; random positions need 10.4 moves on average including tips.

Notation

U L R B turn the two layers at the top, left, right or back vertex by 120°; lowercase u l r b turn only the tip; ' means counterclockwise.

What the permutation graph shows

Every sticker is a node. Each 120° turn moves stickers in 3-cycles, drawn as circles, so you can see exactly which pieces a move touches. A solution is a path through the puzzle's state graph from your scramble to the solved state, and the graph animates that path move by move.

Frequently asked questions

Is the solver free, and are my photos uploaded?

It is free and runs entirely in your browser. Camera images and photos are processed on your device and never uploaded. The site counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies; Google Analytics is loaded only if you accept it in the banner, and you can change that choice in the footer.

Is the solution the shortest possible?

Yes. The solver uses a complete table of every position, so each solution has the fewest possible moves.

Can I scan my Pyraminx with the camera?

Not yet: camera scanning is available for 2×2 to 15×15 cubes. Paint the stickers on the net (it takes about a minute) or type the scramble in notation.
